What is Meditation?
Meditation is the practice of sitting, breathing, and watching (being). That’s it.
IT IS NOT, I REPEAT, IT IS NOT THE CESSATION OF THINKING!
Knowing this will make your practice more enjoyable and you will be more likely to continue practicing.
So, if meditation isn’t about stopping your thoughts then what’s the point?
The problem with thinking is that you believe what you are thinking. You believe that whatever comes into your head is true. You are controlled by your thinking.
You are either watching your thoughts or you are being controlled by your thoughts.
Through the practice of meditation, you learn to watch your thoughts. You learn how to disassociate yourself from your thoughts.
And this disassociation is peace.
