Hi there,
I wanted to give you a quick synopsis of the book we’re currently reading, “The Seat of the Soul” by Gary Zukav and an outline for the class on “Authentic Power and Why It Matters.” The video is at the bottom of the post ;).

If you have any comments, questions, or concerns please leave a comment or email me at krista@myjoycode.com.

Quick Synopsis

According to Zukav, there are two types of humans on this plane, what he calls the 5 sensory human and the multisensory human.

The 5 sensory being can only experience reality from his or her 5 senses, taste, touch, smell, sight, and hearing. Their senses present the limits of their reality.

From this perspective, the world is limited (finite) and resources are scarce; humans must compete and dominate one another and nature for power and survival.

The multisensory being, is able knows that there is more to reality extends beyond the senses. Rather than seeking power through domination and experiencing suffering as a result, the multi-sensory human acquires wisdom and knows that true authentic power comes from alignment with the Soul.

Please note that one is not better than other. Rather, this is an evolutionary process that we are all going through.

The book describes and contrasts the experiences of the 5-sensory versus the multi-sensory being. It touches on the wonder, wisdom, and expansion of living as a multisensory human and finding authentic empowerment.

I suspect that by reading the book, you will have a direct hand in your own consciousness evolution. Isn’t that wonderful!

Why It Matters

We’ll discuss this during class, but in short, authentic power aligns your personality with the Soul and lessens your experience of suffering. It expands your view of yourself in the world. It doesn’t mean that you won’t have pain or grief, but the miserable feeling of not being in control of your life or feeling separate from Life greatly diminishes and is replaced by love, reverence, connection, and true power.

The loving personality seeks not to control, but to nurture, not to dominate , but to empower. Love is the richness and fullness of your soul flowing through you. (pg. 233)

Reading

If you have time, please read the introduction to the book. For the class we’re going to jump right to the end (crazy, I know!) and read the chapter on Power.

Today’s reading”

You are only as powerful as that for which you stand. Do you stand for more money in the bank and a bigger house? Do you stand for an attractive mate? Do you stand for imposing your way of thinking upon others? These are the stands of the personality seeking to satisfy its wants. Do you stand for perfection, for the beauty and compassion of each soul? Do you stand for the power of love and the clarity of wisdom? Do you stand for forgiveness and humbleness? These are the stands of the personality that has aligned itself with its soul. This is the position of a truly powerful personality. (pg. 221)
